4 great reasons why you should obtain your certification as a Pharmacy Tech!
In many cases, pharmacy technicians are able to jump start their career quickly. However, to be more profitable and sought after there are easy ways to achieve this goal and one definite way is to become certified as a pharmacy technician. Below are 4 great reasons why you should obtain your certification as a Pharmacy Tech!
1. Higher Wages
If you are like many of us, you too wouldn't mind more money in your pocket. Becoming certified as a pharmacy technician provides you with just that! According to the PTCB.org, " Pharmacy technicians certified by PTCB report higher earnings and more promotion opportunities than non-certified technicians." With the constant increase of cost of living, many are always searching for ways to pad their savings for their upcoming future and for most, this is why becoming certified is such a GREAT investment.
2. It is Becoming a Requirement
Although in most states it may not be a requirement to be certified. However, you would be among the smartest ones to obtain your certification early. According to the PTCB.org, " Beginning January 1, 2020, completion of a PTCB-recognized education/training program OR equivalent work experience will be required of all new CPhT applicants. To be considered eligible for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) under the 2020 requirement, a candidate must attest to one of the following:
1. Completion of a PTCB-recognized education/training program.
OR
2. Equivalent work experience as a pharmacy technician (min. 500 hours). This alternative path will serve experienced pharmacy technicians who were not in a position to attend a PTCB-recognized program in the past.
Education/training programs recognized by PTCB will have curriculums that include specific knowledge identified in PTCB’s most recent job analysis." 3. Certification is Trusted By Employers
When choosing a career, monetary rewards are beneficial to everyone but internal rewards are even better.
